Daniel Alves

July 2, 2008

Alves is in Barcelona. There was no hiding the Brazilian’s excitement at signing for Barca, something he considered an important challenge, both professionally and personally.

“It is a very important challenge in my life and my career. I am hungry to start playing and the sooner the better so I can show that they did not make a mistake with me.” Those were Daniel Alves first words in Barcelona.

Dream to play for Barca

alves_barcelona_x8x.JPGDani Alves considers coming to Barça to be like a dream come true. “I am very happy to be living this dream” he said. “Not just my dream, but that of so many others that would like to be in my place right now.” As for making his first debut he just can’t wait “for the moment to play for FC Barcelona to arrive, the sooner the better”.

A reward

It is a cause for joy and satisfaction to know that Barca put their interest in me and for me to be able to form part of this new project.”

Alves signed a four-year contract with Barcelona and his transfer fee is reportedly around $45 million.

Barcelona already signed Uruguayan international Martin Caceres from Villarreal and Spain’s Gerard Pique from Manchester United to bolster its defense.

With Daniel Alves in the team, Barca is able to form a more mobile defence. Zambrotta and Thuram left, and now is time for Daniel Alves and Pique to help the catalan club. I hope that other great players will come this summer to FC Barcelona.
